Our September Spectacular event on Saturday, September 10th, 2011 raised a total of

£1262.69 for The Laminitis Trust.

and BEE would like to thank all who supported this event.

The 5th event for British Equine Events saw an improvement in the weather conditions from the previous year. This year's event was held in support of The Laminitis Trust and there were the usual high standard of entries throughout the day.

The reintroduction of the working hunter classes were well received, and the ring had the benefit of sponsorship from Doodle Jumps who provided a number of interesting fillers to brighten up the inviting course built by David Colles. Champion of the plaited sections came from the Exc 153cm class: Carrera Z ridden by R. Madden who also notched a win in the Riding Club Horse class. The M & M sections were hotly contested with the champion spot being awarded to Morgan Farrow on Blue Haven Cadet.

Once again Le Beau Cheval sponsored the Best Turned Out Championship which takes a winner from each class into an end of day championship, with each Champion coming forward to the evening performance. This year's winner was Steven Sharples on his novice middleweight hunter Royal Ruby. In Hand entries saw an increase in numbers this year for judge Hilary Samuels. The plaited champion coming from the Part bred Arab class: Megan Jones with Gadabout and Josh Turners new riding pony acquisition Royal Park Peters Dream in reserve. Julie Devaney presented her beautiful homebred broodmare Julmar Sweet Rose with stunning foal at foot to secure the Welsh A & B Class before going on to take the M & M In Hand Championship ahead of Pasadena Well Dun ably shown by Scott Dixon and owned by Kelly McPhilbin. Sweet Rose has had an exceptional year with wins also at Hambleton, Lancs WCPA.

Ashleigh Sumner had an amazing show with her Dartmoor Vean Florimund winning the M & M first ridden, tiny tots working hunter, mini champion and reserve champion M & M WHP. Georgia McCloud on her HOYS bound Telynau Zeferelli scored a hat trick taking the Show Pony, Part bred Welsh and Hunter Pony classes and were seen as a strong contender for the ridden showing championship, however it was Claire Edwards, on her stunning coloured Royal Jester III, who took Champion after placing first in both the Show Horse and Coloured classes. Both competitors also fought it out in the Mixed Championship under a different judge for the same championship result to be repeated.

M & M Classes saw a slight decline in numbers forward however quality remained at the fore. The Dartmoor Moortown Commodore headed up the ridden small breeds and junior ridden for jockey A. Partington. Jessica Lees took top spot in the Large breeds with Hedgethorpe Major General, however it was Faye Wilson who took the Championship with her own section D Normoss Black Daniel ahead of Moortown Commodore.

With only the Supremes left to complete, judge Dave Tabern had an ardous task ahead of him in the Robinson's main arena. Julmars Sweet Rose took the In hand Supreme however in a twist of results it was the Reserve Champion from the mini section who secured the top ridden honours: Maypole Stargate owned by Anglea Leyland, ridden by Paige Hartley and ably led by Chloe Ravenscroft and Faye Wilson with Normoss Black Daniel in reserve. Many thanks go to all who attended to support this event and also the generosity of our sponsors whom we could not run the show without.

Next year's show is scheduled for Saturday, 8th September, 2012
