Great weather and a high standard of forward entries made the 3rd event for British Equine Events at Myerscough College a very successful one.
The Parry family from Euxton had a busy day with Alexandra taking the Novice Lead Rein class with Rotherwood Crackerjack, M & M Lead Rein on Harland Primrose and taking the Beginners First Ridden and Tiny Tots Handler with Bayford Dorabella, however it was Harvey Leyland who eventually took the Mini Championship with Maypole Stargate.
Heather Tyldsely secured the honours in the Show Pony Class with Parkhills Little Aria; the pair are now in their second season and have this year qualified for the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead in the 128cm show pony class. The Equitation Champion came from the 16-21 age group with Rachael Smith winning the title here on Wellbrow Renegade.
New for this year came the introduction of a selection of Novelty classes for our younger members. To support these classes Equineck kindly donated prizes for the 1st & 2nd prize winners in all classes, which were presented in the evening performance, whilst the overall novelty champion was decided; the eventual winner was Talia Ramsden on Springbank Antareas ably led by her granddad Alan Brookes.
The consistent partnership of Bradley Leyland with his own Bankswood Bluchip Imagination took the Hunter Pony and Ridden Arab classes before going on to secure the Ridden Showing Championship honours. As always the M & M Classes were very popular and judge Maxine Bevan Jones from Stafford had plenty to sort through.
The junior classes were very well supported with Sarah Holland on Tireve Dinefr Comet winning the junior large breeds and Sherberton Sandbee with Brittany Robinson taking the small breeds. The eventual champion and reserve in this section came from the same home; the section D Oneway Mountain Prince took champion and the Dales Waterside Ben II took Reserve; both were ridden in their classes by owner Tracey Millward with Carl Morris taking over the ride on Ben in the championship. Waterside Ben is on form this season and has already secured his Olympia Ticket for 2009.
Lucy Craven riding Sue and Tammy Hincliffes home bred Section B stallion Roseberry Model Man won the Novice Small Breeds and Ridden A's & B's before taking the Novice Championship. Whilst In Hand entries were down on previous years there was certainly no lacking of quality forward. A win in the C's and D's saw J. O'Shaunessy comfortably through to the Championship with Bockmer Glory Bee to take the Champion slot with Alice Tomlinson with the type Y Shetland Birchmoor Red Admiral in reserve. Alice also won the Ridden Small breeds with Red Admiral.
In the plaited ranks Dawn Lee with former Cuddy Finalist Falconhurst Repertoire took wins in the Show Pony and Part Bred Arab classes. Chloe Thorne had a busy day showing Sharon Drapers home bred riding pony colt Oaklands Picture Perfect to win the Hunter Pony class. Chloe also had a win with Talaponicau Gauntlet in the Youngstock, with two ponies forward to the championship Julie Nuttall took over the lead with Gauntlet to secure the championship with Chloe in reserve place with Picture Perfect.
In keeping with previous years the Supremes were judged by guest judges. Bill and Susan Hoggans from Scotland chose Talaponicau Gauntlet as Supreme In Hand Champion and Oaklands Picture Perfect in Reserve with Ridden Supreme honours going to Bradley Leyland on Bankswood Blue Chip Imagination and Lucy Craven in Reserve with Roseberry Model Man.
