* All Lead Rein classes: Not to have attained their 9th birthday
* All Lead Rein ponies: Must not exceed 128cm.
*All First Ridden Classes: Not to have attained their 12th birthday
*Junior M&M Small Breeds: Not to have attained their 14th birthday
* Junior M&M Large Breeds: Not to have attained their 18th birthday
- Riders age: All riders ages are calculated from 01st January of the current year
- Lead Rein: All In all lead rein classes the handlers lead may only be attached to the noseband.
- Lead Rein: Competitors are unable to compete on the lead rein in any other classes that are not intended as lead rein classes
- Novice Classes: Competitors are asked to enter in the spirit intended for these classes.
- Equine age: All horses and ponies must be 4 years and over in all ridden classes. The age is calculated from the 1st January in the year of their birth.
- Riders: Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday on the day of the show, unless otherwise stated.
- Falls: Any rider who falls from their horse/pony whilst a class is in progress may not remount to complete their class. In-Hand classes: Any animal which gets loose from it's handler may not complete the class.
- Exhibiting (a): A rider/handler may not show an equine in a competition that is judged by any member of his/her immediate family.
Exhibiting (b): A rider/handler may not knowingly show an equine that has been bred, sold, leased or produced by the Judge or any of his/her employees.
Exhibiting (c): A rider/handler may not show under a Judge whom he/she has produced an equine since 1st January of the previous year.
- If a Judge has reasonable grounds for belief that 7. (a), (b) or (c) is being contravened they must ask the competitor to leave the ring and the competitor must withdraw.
- Judges Decision: This will be FINAL in ALL cases
- Crowd Behaviour: The British Equine Event Committee would like everyone to enjoy themselves for the duration of the show including the evening performance. British Equine Events asks that as a spectator you show your appreciation in a respectful and sporting manner. People who conduct over exuberant celebrations or behaviour which can be interpreted as deliberately trying to upset and unsettle ponies/horses/riders i.e. screaming/shouting etc will be asked to leave the viewing gallery and may be escorted off the showground.
- Responsibilities: The onus is on competitors to be available for classes when called; failure to do so may lead to elimination; entry fees will not be refunded.
- Ridden classes: No horse/pony may be considered for a placing if it was not present for the initial go round from when the class goes into trot.
- In hand classes: Late entry is at the judges discretion.
- No person including competitors or handlers should enter or leave the ring at any time without the Judges permission.
- Bridles: Snaffle bridles only in Lead Rein, Novice Ridden & Equitation Classes. All other classes any suitable bridle.
- Hats: Hard hats must be worn & correctly fastened by all riders when mounted on the showground; hats must conform to EN1384 or PAS standard. It is recommended that all In Hand competitors wear a hard hat.
- Top hats/bowlers: May only be worn during the evening performance at the rider's own risk. Top hats may NOT be worn by any rider under 12yrs from 01st January in the current year.
- Dress Code: All competitors must be smartly & correctly dressed for all classes. Evening Performance dress, navy or tweed jacket with stock or tie.
- Spurs: may NOT be worn by junior riders under the age of 16 as at 01st January in the current year. Spurs may be worn in any other class at the Judges discretion.
- Whips: Must not exceed (30"). Excessive use of the whip is forbidden. If a competitor excessively uses the whip in any class that will be asked to leave the ring. This rule also applies to the loading of difficult horses/ponies; individuals will be asked to leave the showground.
- Back numbers: It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure the wear their back numbers for each class, failure to do so will render the competitor ineligible for the class.
- Jewellery: Any item of jewellery or body piercing that may become entangled and cause discomfort to the rider/handler is NOT permitted.
- Stallions: Are NOT eligible for lead rein, first ridden, junior ridden classes or novelty classes. Any M&M small breed pony stallion not exceeding 138cms may NOT be ridden by juniors who have not attained their 11th birthday as at 01st January in the current year. Any M&M large breed stallion exceeding 138cms may NOT be ridden by juniors who have not attained their 14th birthday as at 01st January in the current year.
- Stallions/Colts (including yearlings): May NOT be led by anyone who has not attained their 16th birthday as at 01st January in the current year and must be adequately bitted.
- Entry Fees: Will NOT be refunded under any circumstances.
- Abuse: To any Judge, Steward, Competitor or Official by any other Competitor, handler, groom or their representative will NOT be tolerated in any circumstances. It will result in the individuals concerned being asked to leave the showground & their entries will be cancelled.
- Objections: Should be made in writing to the Show Secretary together with £50 within 30 minutes of the class finishing. If the decision is upheld the £50 will be returned.
- Respect: All competitors and visitors to any British Equine Events show are expected to treat the venue with respect. Vandalism, wilful damage or any other anti social behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated under any circumstances. If anyone is found to be acting in such a manner they and their party will be asked to leave the showground and will not be allowed to compete at any future event. The Police may also be informed. B.E.E...Respectful!
- British Equine Events Show Committee: Reserves the right to amend any of these rules at any time, change the schedule of classes if necessary or substitute judges as previously published if required.
- Liability: Whilst every precaution has been taken concerning health & safety, including the completion of risk assessments. British Equine Events accepts no liability or responsibility for any loss, incident or accident to person(s), equines or property.
